Health and safety
Protecting the health and safety of our employees and all those affected by our business is a priority at BBA Aviation. Safety and responsibility are two of our core values and health and safety targets are included in the key performance indicators of our employees from senior management to team members on the ground.
Our operating management teams are supported by a dedicated team of health and safety professionals who assess health and safety risks and who regularly evaluate site performance. We compile performance statistics on a continuous basis and monitor them closely through our management processes.
Our global web-based reporting, audit and training tools assist us in identifying trends and in developing and communicating safety improvement programmes to deliver further progress in our health and safety performance.
BBA Aviation's health and safety strategy seeks to deliver a zero incident environment in which every individual is responsible for themselves, their co-workers and their workplace. We have been using our health and safety ZIPP campaign philosophy to communicate health and safety matters and safe behaviours for nearly three years. This is supported by training which is a vital part of every BBA Aviation employee's working activities.
BBA Aviation's Group-wide Recordable Incident Rate at the end of 2011 was 3.08, a reduction of 5.2% on 2010 and the lowest rate for the current portfolio of aviation businesses since we started monitoring.
134 out of 223 BBA Aviation reporting locations achieved an RIR of zero in 2011.
