ASIG AWARDED CONCESSION TO PROVIDE INTO-PLANE FUELING SERVICE AT BANGKOK'S NEW SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT
Orlando ... ASIG®, an industry leader in aviation services, announced today that it has been awarded a concession to provide into-plane fueling services at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The concession is one of two 20-year licenses allotted by the airport authority, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT). Novatech Company Limited, a local Bangkok firm, is ASIG's joint venture partner. This award marks ASIG's entrance into the Asian market.
Suvarnabhumi is scheduled to open September 2005. Upon opening, the airport is expected to initially handle 3 million tons of cargo and 45 million passengers per year.
ASIG was selected as an operator based on its breadth of experience managing large-scale airport fueling operations. ASIG currently manages into-plane fueling operations at airports such as London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), Munich (MUC), Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO). Novatech, a well-known distributor of fuel equipment, is based in Thailand and has been in operation for ten years.
