ASIG launches aviation fuel operations at Tocumen International Airport in Panama

15 September 2011

ASIG, an industry leader in aviation services, announced today that it was awarded a 20 year license to provide aviation fuel services at Panama’s Tocumen International Airport (PTY).  In conjunction with a local Panamanian company, ASIG participated in a competitive bid process that focused on technical expertise, financial strength and experience in fuel facility construction and expansion projects.  ASIG was chosen as the new provider and under the licensing agreement will manage and operate the airport’s sole jet fuel facility as well as provide aircraft refueling services to all of the airlines serving PTY.  The company expects to fuel approximately 3,900 flights a month at the airport.

Commenting on the new license, Keith P. Ryan, ASIG President, said, “We are extremely happy to have been selected as the new provider at Tocumen International Airport which represents our entry into the Central American market.  Strategic expansion into new markets is central to ASIG’s long-term growth plans and Panama presents an exciting opportunity with strong economic growth projected over the coming years.  ASIG is investing in the fuel infrastructure to accommodate increased activity at the airport and to support the airport’s major expansion plans.  We have also invested in new refueling equipment including solar powered refueling carts and have trained the local staff in “best in class” safety and refueling procedures to ensure that we deliver the safest, highest quality service possible.”
